'Free' almost never means a free day in Bali — and it rarely means a free swim. The honest pattern: commercial beach clubs (Potato Head, FINNS, Single Fin, WooBar) let you walk in without a ticket, but any daybed or table carries a minimum spend (roughly IDR 300,000–1,000,000) you redeem against food and drink — so you only pay if you claim a seat, and a bar stool or general beanbag can cost just a drink. Hotel pools are different: most five-star resorts do not let you simply walk in and swim — you book ahead and pay a day-pass or minimum spend. The only ones we could confirm as genuinely free are Segara Village's Byrd House in Sanur (free, no minimum) and The Apurva Kempinski's Reef Beach Club (free entry and free pool — but you now book ahead). Everywhere else, read 'free' as free to enter, pay for a seat.
